How to change belt in Kenmore Dryer?

it%26#039;s a older model but the only one I have and no money to go to laundry mat all the time or buy a new one with Christmas coming up so please woul someone tell me how to fix it myself thanks|||A couple of these previous answers are ok, some are close, but if you want a step by step, bolt by bolt procedure to change this belt, email me and I%26#039;ll send it. I do about 100 of these a year.|||Most Dryers have the same design. The top and front panels are removable with a long handles pry bar or even sometimes a screw driver. If either panel doesn%26#039;t come off smoothly then check for screws that need to be removed. If you get at least the top off (which is usually hinged and wont come off all the way) the belt will be visible around the drum. In the back of the dryer there should be a grate or an opening that covers the motor. Remove the grate and take careful note of the assembly of the pully system and belt. From there just slide the belt off by releasing the tensioner (a small round pully) and then the belt should be free. More often then not you have to remove the drum, which most come out from the top, some from the front. Hope this helps you out atleast a little.- Mr. M|||On some models, like the top loader, the top part will pry up to replace the belt.. Here in my area, there are places to buy a new belt, for many makes of machines.

Fish out the old belt, then take it to a place that sells new belts. With some fishing inside, around the outside of the drum, you can manage to get the new belt on. The front loader i have has 2 rollers that the drum turns on. the tricky part is getting the belt around the drum and the idler and drive pulleys, inside the machine.

I had to cut a large hole in one side to access those parts. I think our dryer is 40+ years old, but it does work good.|||This article covers replacing the idler pulley (on the belt), but it%26#039;s also a good description of how to replace the belt. Go to the appliance parts store with your model number and get a new belt. If you are spending the time to repair it, spend the money to do it right. The article covers Whirlpool, but they OEM Kenmore models.|||Belts cost about $25 if you think its worth the trouble then;slip a screw driver under the top to release the 2 latches then lift lid.Inside you will see drum, motor, pulleys, and pieces of your old belt.Take model number and go get a new belt.It slips over the front of the drum(inside the door) and is usually a tight fit between drum and resting pads/rollers but drum moves up and down to give a little room.|||I am not an expert at repairing these particular appliances, but it just so happens I have just recently repaired a dryer within the last few months. This is not a very technical repair, so it should not be too taxong. First thing to remember is to keep a plastic bag or some sort of container to keep the screws in. You don%26#039;t want to be searching for lost screws when you go to put it back together. you will need to take the top panel off, the one that has the dials. Then the top of the dryer. You will basically take the whole front and top of the dryer off completely.once you are to this point it will be rather self-explanatory. You will need to have purchased the replacement belt already. The belt is just strung around the barrel, and over a tensioner, and finally it goes around the pulley motor. Like I said it is rather easy, once you get it apart. It is getting to this point that is the hardest part. once you have the belt on correctly, all that is left is to test it first, and then put it back together. Putting it together is much easier than taking it apart. I hope this will be helpful to you, I would look online to see if you can locate a blue-print type sketch of the machine. It may come in handy to have some sort of an idea as to the layout of the machine. Good Luck. If you are still having problems, post another question on answers, and I will probably see it and be able to give more advice.|||The site below may help. Look under repair help.|||Remove the screws on the back of the unit, take off the back panel. loosen the nut that keeps the motor tight against the belt, slide the motor until it frees the belt tension. take off the belt, replace.|||take the old one and wrap it aroud the equipment. superglue the two ends and hold them together until it dries. be just as new for a little while. but when you get then new one you just take the old one off and put the new one on.
