Looks like lift off the top and unscrew the font to get belt on and off. Anything else to look for. This dryer is 1990 Lady Kenmore.|||By turning the dryer so that you have easy access to the back of it, should make it much easier when attempting to remove the belt. Take the old one with you when you go to buy a new one. You don%26#039;t really have to because you%26#039;ll get the right size, by telling them the make/model of your dryer; but it will appear to them that you know what you%26#039;re doing, and guess what, you Do, you took it off didn%26#039;t you?... all right then.... it ain%26#039;t rocket science.
Now take it home and slap it on by reversing what you did when taking off the old one; tighten it up (not too tight).. and be glad that it wasn%26#039;t the washer. But because you saved anywhere between 50 to 80 bucks by doing it yourself... I got a feeling that you%26#039;ll try an %26quot;take on%26quot; that washer when the time comes.... sure you will :)|||When it gets that bad it%26#039;s time to change it for sure.Do a web search on your model and make and you should be able to find instructions on how to change the belt.|||Belts squeal ike that when they slip. If yours is cracked then the chances are its stretched as well.
BTW it happens on cars and sounds terrible.
Change the belt. Tightening it will increase the strain on it and increase the chaces of it beaking completly. That will be with a drier full of clothes as well.|||Most dryers have a spring loaded belt tensioner. Take off the front of the dryer and make sure you remember how the belt is routed. Take off the old belt and replace it. Make sure the drum is lined up properly when you put the front back on.|||i just went through the same thing with mine. it%26#039;s a whirlpool and they make kenmore for sears. they have a kit that comes with the belt and all of the parts that work with the belt .this package that will make the dryer quiet if that is one of the problems. and your new belt will last longer if you use it. it cost about $30.00 at sears and they can ship it if need be. it comes with instructions too. but you will need the model# and serial# to get the right one for your dryer. if those #%26#039;s aren%26#039;t in the door opening on a metal plate they will be on the back on a plate. good luck and happy holidays!!
